The week before the Easter Holiday,  St Bernadette’s Gardeners planted out a variety of wildlife hedging plants from the Woodland Trust above their KS1 playground and football pitch as part of their work to improve their grounds for children and nature. Despite the miserable weather the children did a fantastic job, working together, digging the holes, setting the canes for the shrubs to grow up and protecting the plants with the protective tubing, helped by parent helpers and staff.

Hedgerows are an important habitat for many species of wildlife.  Other schools wanting to plant hedgerows can order a free hedgerow pack now, to arrive in November.  Details here.
