STEM Partnership Event – inventions for our planet

To celebrate David Attenborough’s 100th birthday, schools from the Together Schools Alliance (including Mile Oak, Brackenbury, Balfour and Queens Park) asked pupils to invent something to protect or improve our planet.  Finalists were invited with their parents to a prizegiving ceremony at Varndean College where they heard from the college students about why they thought it was important to study STEM and what it was like.

There were some incredible entries, including a solar oven, a system to harness energy from volcanoes,  birdboxes and many wonderful inventions to collect rubbish from the sea.

Congratulations to everyone involved – a wonderful and inspiring partnership event across many schools and age groups, filling us with hope for the future.
